Renewable energy is a vast industry in and of itself. We need to patent the right innovations with precise claims. Furthermore, this will discourage competitors from infringing on or inventing around our claims. Meanwhile, based on the current market, we can broadly classify patentable renewable energy innovations as follows:

1. Mature market stage technologies: This type already has many products and designs on the market. Furthermore, we can now find many large-scale inventions. As a result, when filing patents for innovations in such products, we must be mindful and cautious not to infringe on any existing patents. Hybrid vehicles, solar power, wind power, and tidal energy are examples of mature market technologies.

2. Market-trending technologies: They refer to market-trending innovations. These technologies are new to the market. At this stage, we usually learn about the commercial viability and success of the inventions. The majority of these inventions will be protected by patents or licences held by the companies. Patents can be obtained, however, if the innovation solves an existing technical problem in the product or design with expertise. 3. Technologies at venture stage: These technologies are mostly in the research stage or are planning to enter the commercial market. At this point, these technologies have a lot of untapped potential. Furthermore, they are new and have enormous potential for new inventions and innovations.
